A Gang Run, also called a Combination Run or Combo Run, means printing lots of different jobs together on one printing press. When similar jobs from many customers are printed at once, each job costs less. That’s because the setup and paper waste are shared among all the jobs, making printing cheaper for everyone.
When to Use Gang Run?
When many printing jobs need similar paper and ink, a Gang Run is used. This way, they can all be printed together on one press. Popular items like full color business cards, flyers, brochures, door hangers, and postcards are often grouped together in a gang run. Gang runs help lower the cost of printing, especially for smaller orders, by sharing setup and materials across multiple jobs.
When Shouldn't You Use Gang Run?
When your project needs precise color control or special paper or print effects, a Gang Run might not be the best choice. For instance, important documents like annual reports or flagship brochures might require individual press runs to ensure color accuracy. Similarly, if your project needs unique materials or effects, it might not be compatible with gang printing. It’s always a good idea to consult with your printer to determine the best printing approach for your specific project.
